The Website: honorflightchicago.org The club sponsored 3 Vets for the June 17 Flight. Club members were among about 1000 people greeting and thanking this group of WWII Veterans as they arrive back home. A very moving experience.

Additional Information: Flight Info There are currently 5 dates in 2009. The Vet we are sponsoring will be on the June 17th Flight. Their Day in DC ÃÆ'¢?" They will tour DC with a special stop at their war memorial. You can be a guardian for a vet by paying your airfare and $50 for expenses. (See website). Their Honor Flight will be a long, emotional and exhilarating day. Early at the airport, there will be a pre-arranged meeting point, and they will gather to go through security together. Guardians will be with them, every step of the way, all day. Pre-flight screening will help assess individual needs so that we may make sure their day with Honor Flight is happy, safe and memorable for the right reasons. Particular interest will be paid to respond to personal comfort and safety. Wheelchairs and oxygen can be provided to those vets with such needs. Upon arrival in Washington, tour buses will go to the WWII Memorial first. About two hours there - ample time to explore the site and simply sit and remember those who were left behind. Box lunch provided. Then travel on to the Korean, Viet Nam and Iwo Jima Memorials and, as time allows, they will tour Washington. Then back to the airport for the return trip home.
